“Football is for all ages” – Keynsham Town Walking Football Club score big with new goalposts

#PressRelease

Keynsham Town WFC is helping all ages to get involved in football, thanks to funding from the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation.

The Bristol-based club recently celebrated the ten-year anniversary of its men’s walking football teams and the two-year anniversary of its women’s walking football team. There are now more than 150 players across the teams – all in their 50s, 60s and 70s.

The Club’s Chair, Mike Slucutt, said:

“Everyone at the club would like to thank the Football Foundation for its help with purchasing these goalposts, which have benefitted our players enormously.

“We firmly believe that football is for all ages, which is why we’re all proud to be supporting so many players – whether they’re looking to carry on playing the game they love or lace up their boots for the first time.”

The Club has close ties to the local community beyond football, and has raised more than £30k for good causes, including a recent Christmas lunch which helped support Bath Mind and Keynsham & Saltford Dementia Alliance.

Dean Potter, Director of Grant Management at the Football Foundation, said:

“Thanks to the funding we receive from the Premier League, The FA and Government, Football Foundation grants are supporting grassroots clubs up and down the country to create more opportunities for people to play and for local communities to come together through sport.

Whether you’re looking for new goalposts, floodlights to shine a light on your brilliant players, a grass pitch that can be used all year round, or a community space that will be welcoming to all, the Football Foundation is here to support every community from the roots up.”
