WHAT WE DO

We’re committed to improving the experience of playing football for everyone who loves the beautiful game. Transforming lives and strengthening communities is our ultimate goal and we’re proud to play our part so you can play yours.

Over the last 19 years we’ve been busily planting the seeds to grow grassroots football. We have worked closely with passionate people in communities up and down the country to deliver sports projects worth over £1.5 billion and we’ve got big plans for the future.

National Football Facility Strategy

The National Football Facilities Strategy (NFFS) sets out the Football Foundation’s ambition to transform England’s grassroots game over the next ten years. The Premier League, The FA and Government aim to deliver thousands of new pitches, while also investing in the improvement of existing grass pitches and off-pitch facilities across the country.

Grass Pitch Improvement Strategy

Even with the wider availability of 3G pitches did you know the majority of grassroots football is still played on traditional grass pitches? That’s why improving these remain a priority for us.

Working alongside The FA we’ve developed the Grass Pitch Improvement Strategy. The aim is to ensure every affiliated football fixture is played on a quality football pitch and keep grassroots football where it should be...on grass.

We provide grassroot football grants designed to help people get more from the game they love. There’s a wide range of grants available so take a look and see what we could do to help you.

Our hubs

Our aim is to raise the quality of grassroots facilities and provide sporting opportunities for all over the next five years. The £200m investment in multi-pitch hubs has enabled us to work in partnership with councils and local football organisations, with hubs already in Liverpool, London and Sheffield.

Football Stadia Improvement Fund

The Football Stadia Improvement Fund  is a non-charitable arm of the Football Foundation Funded by the Premier League.
