Football Foundation response to FIFA Women's World Cup 2035 announcement

3 Apr 2025

Responding to the news that England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have been confirmed as the sole bidders to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2035, Robert Sullivan, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said:

“Hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup is an opportunity to build on the outstanding success of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 that inspired thousands of women and girls to lace up their boots.

“To realise this potential, it’s vital that every community has a great place to play before the first ball is even kicked at the tournament.

“Thanks to funding from the Premier League, The FA and Government, the Football Foundation is investing in welcoming, quality and accessible facilities across England to provide equal access to the grassroots game for women and girls.”
