HOW TO APPLY

Applicants for the Lionesses HERe to Play Fund are only permitted to submit one application to the Fund in any 12-month period. We encourage you to carefully review the eligibility criteria and prepare all necessary information before beginning your submission.

Once your application is received, it cannot be amended or resubmitted, so make sure it reflects your project’s goals and impact clearly and completely.

This application doesn’t affect your organisation, should you wish to apply for an additional Football Foundation grant such as goalposts.

Please note that we cannot accept multiple sites under one application.

Read our guidance on how to make your facility more welcoming and inclusive for women and girls. Carry out research and consult the women and girls using your site to create a list of eligible items you'd like to apply for.
Create a Football Foundation account, or log back in if you already have one. Make sure your account has:
- A verified organisation
-Two verified contacts
- A verified site where the items will be used

Complete the application form - this is what you'll need to apply:
-The list of items you want to apply for - please ensure you've familiarised yourself with the eligible items and grant limits.
-A short description of how the items will make your facility more welcoming and inclusive for women and girls, and ensure you have liaised with your County FA to have a plan to develop the women's and girls' game.
-Quotes from at least two suppliers
- Please make sure you have thoroughly read all of this guidance and also checked out our Support and Guidance page for preparing your application.
-If you're a club, you need to have completed, signed up for or be on the waiting list for The FA's Equal Game workshop.
Once you’ve submitted your application, we’ll send you a confirmation email. Your application will then be assessed by our Grant Management Team. We’ll aim to get back to you within ten working days with a link to download your decision letter and Terms and Conditions on your Football Foundation account.
If your application is successful, we’ll provide you with the funds.

Retrospective Funding

Please be aware that retrospective funding applications cannot be considered under any circumstances. This means that any costs incurred, or commitments made prior to receiving formal grant approval are ineligible for reimbursement. To ensure fairness and transparency, all applicants must wait until their grant has been awarded before commencing any work or making purchases related to the project. We strongly advise planning accordingly to avoid disappointment.

Tenure

For the Lionesses HERe to Play Fund, The Football Foundation requires a minimum of 5 Years security of Tenure for all applications, to be evidenced in your application. Please have this ready to submit ahead of starting your application. A Service Level Agreement (SLA) will also be accepted for clubs who don’t own their own facility.

Planning Permission and Building Regulations

Although we don’t anticipate planning permission and/or building regulations to be required for most projects, we still need you to determine whether this is required independently to make your application as smooth as possible. If you do require either or both, you will be required to demonstrate this or upload a supporting statement as to why you don’t believe it is required. Please have evidence ready to submit.
