Football Foundation Appoints New Board Members

The Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation has appointed two new Trustees to its Board, who will help oversee the governance of the charity’s work.  

Richard Masters will represent the Premier League on the charity’s Board as one of its funding partners. Richard was appointed Premier League Chief Executive in December 2019, overseeing all elements of the League’s operations and commercial enterprises and is responsible for the continuing success of the world’s most-watched football league.  

Wais Shaifta has also joined the Board as a Senior Independent Trustee. Wais currently chairs the Remuneration and Sustainability committee at The Gym Group plc and is an independent Non-Executive Director at Reach plc, participating in key committees at both. Previously he has held executive and leadership roles at JUST EAT and Treatwell.  

Richard and Wais will be working to support CEO Robert Sullivan and the wider team to ensure that all investment is spent wisely and effectively to strengthen communities through the power of football.  

The Board share the Foundation’s passion for football and belief in the positive impact the organisation’s investment has in communities across the country.
