The Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation has appointed Simon Hayes to its Board, representing Sport England as one of its funding partners.
Simon has been Chief Executive of Sport England since September 2025. He was previously Chief Executive of HM Land Registry and Chief Land Registrar.
Simon will be working with fellow Board members to help oversee the governance of the charity’s work. He takes over from Tim Hollingsworth, who stepped down from his role as Chief Executive of Sport England and as a Football Foundation Board Member earlier this year.
Commenting on his appointment, Simon said:
“As both a fan and player, I’ve seen first-hand the power of grassroots sport and its role in creating healthier, happier and more connected communities. Sport England’s partnership with the Premier League, The FA and Government through the Football Foundation has achieved so much in the last 25 years and I am delighted to continue to support and promote that work as part of the Football Foundation Board.”
Football Foundation Chair, Martin Glenn, said:
“On behalf of the Football Foundation, I’d like to welcome Simon to the team. As a passionate supporter of the grassroots game, his advice and guidance will be extremely valuable to ensuring that the Foundation is directing investment where it’s needed the most, and where it’ll have the greatest impact.
“I’d also like to thank Tim Hollingsworth for his support over the six years he spent on the Foundation’s Board and wish him every success for the future.”
