Facility Types
By developing Local Football Facility Plans, with guidance from local partners, we’ve developed a list of high-level projects for potential investment across every local authority area in the country.
Each is aligned with the investment priorities set out in the National Football Facilities Strategy, which include:
- 3G artificial grass pitches in a mix of sizes and settings, dependent upon local needs, aimed at enhancing the quality of the playing experience.
- Improved grass pitches to help increase the amount of play that can be accommodated and to address drop-off due to poor playing experience.
- Changing pavilions linked to priority sites, designed to meet the needs of the community and the activities that take place.
- PlayZones are safe, inclusive, and accessible new or refurbished mini pitches, designed for football and a range of other sports that bring communities together through recreational activity.
This section of the Toolkit provides further guidance on each facility type.
