The Football Foundation’s online version of the Annual Report, Annual Review +, has won the ‘Best Online Annual Report’ category in the 2012 CorpComms Digi Awards, beating big-spending rival candidates, such as Heineken.
The Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity, produced the online report entirely in-house, without hiring an expensive agency to produce the footage. The report contains footage of 13 projects and brings to life the case studies incorporated within the hard copy report. The aim of Annual Review + was to provide an in-depth insight into the clubs and people who are benefiting from our work.
The projects included in the review range from those that received ‘Grow the Game’ grants of £5,000, such as Ashbourne Aztecs FC, to those who received larger grants, such as Wallsend Boys’ Club, the club which produced the likes of Alan Shearer, Peter Beardsley and Michael Carrick.
Each project mentioned in the online video was visited by a member of the Football Foundation, who carried out extensive research and interviewed coaches, parents and participants on the impact the grants have had on their communities.
The judges were impressed with the way the Foundation, which receives the core of its funding from the Premier League, The FA and Government (via Sport England), brought to life its work with ‘simple, effective imagery.’
1,200 people viewed the online version in just two months, representing 73 per cent of the 1,600 supporters who receive the printed Annual Review.
Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, Paul Thorogood, said: “The introduction of Annual Review + is a new and creative way of showing what the Foundation has been doing over the past year with the funds provided by our core funding partners – the Premier League, The FA and Government, as well as additional funding provided by the Mayor of London Facilities Fund and Barclays Bank for Barclays Spaces for Sports.
“I am immensely proud of our very small Communications Team who were up against some global giants with huge communications budgets and supported by specialist agencies. We are delighted that the judges have recognised the hard work, imagination and creativity demonstrated in our online Annual Report.”
