MULTI-SPORT

OUR PLAN TO COMMIT INVESTMENT FROM THE PREMIER LEAGUE, THE FA AND GOVERNMENT into multi-sport projects that support both football and an additional sport, such as rugby, cricket, netball, and basketball.

Coming Spring 2023

2023

Funding for grass Cricket, Rugby League and Rugby Union pitches

From Spring 2023, £15m of Sport England National Lottery funding will be made available via the Football Foundation to support improvements of grass cricket, Rugby League and Rugby Union pitches in England identified through the PitchPower app.

PlayZones

The multi-sport commitment will also see the first Football Foundation “PlayZones” open in 2023. These small-sided sports facilities will provide accessible outdoor facilities that bring communities together through recreational forms of football and a range of other sports.

See our multi-sport investment in action

The work to create great multi-sport facilities has already started. Here are a few of our Football Foundation-funded sites that are supporting their communities with more than just football.

PitchPower is going to be a game changer for grass pitch sports in this country. With the funding that cricket and rugby clubs will be able to unlock by undertaking inspections with PitchPower, a greater number of pitches across these sports will be better quality.
