Biography

Graduating from the famous Wallsend Boys Club, former England international Peter Beardsley MBE started his professional playing career with Carlisle United, going on to play for a total of 11 different clubs over the next 20 years. These included spells with Newcastle, Liverpool, and Everton, during which time he was capped 59 times for his country. One of the most gifted players of his generation, Peter is currently manager of Newcastle’s Development Team having held various other coaching roles at the club.

Peter is a Football Foundation Ambassador. Our Ambassadors support the Foundation's commitment to building better community sports facilities across the county, which support the health of the nation – its people, communities and economy.

It is great that grassroots clubs and schools have somewhere they can gain help, especially in the tough economic times, and credit goes to the Foundation's funding partners – The FA, the Premier League and the Government – for providing the crucial cash to make this happen.
